Fun facts inspired by today’s playlist:

DINOSAURS.

During the Jurassic Period, the supercontinent Pangaea split apart. The Northern half, known as Laurentia, was splitting into land masses that would eventually form North American and Eurasia, opening basins for the central Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico.

FLASHLIGHTS.

Early flashlights (torches) ran on zinc carbon batteries, which could not give a steady electric current and required periodic rest to function. Because these early flashlights also used energy-inefficient carbon filament bulbs, 'resting' occurred at short intervals. That means they could only be used in brief bursts, hence the common American term flashlight.

GROWTH MINDSET.

A short-ish read on all thing Carol Dweck and growth mindset, compliments of the brilliant Brainpickings. And if at first you don't succeed in finishing it all in one go, dust yourself off and try again, Aaliyah style.
